Caribou's 'Swim' is an understated masterpiece, an album that blended decades of electronic music into Caribou's cracked psychedelic pop, and made Caribou a beloved act in that wave of iconic indie rock records in the era from 2009-2012. But that description doesn't capture what it's like to well, swim, in the environs of the album; it's a swaddling cloth, a shvitz for the soul, one of those depression lamps in audio form. This is an album that is lived in, which is why it's one of the most beloved in the Merge catalog.
